The C2MCI is committed to advancing EDI and Indigenization (EDII) in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We aspire to become an equitable research community that fosters creativity, innovation, and collaboration among all researchers through education and self-reflection. We aim to create a greater reach of understanding, both domestically and internationally, with inclusive conversations that promote intercultural awareness.

At C2MCI, we also recognize and prioritize our responsibility to honour and uphold our obligations to Indigenous communities. Indigenization requires careful reflection and deliberate action. We are committed to ensuring that our efforts in this area are thoughtful, impactful, and honours the unique contributions and rights of Indigenous peoples.

As part of this commitment, we have established an EDII Training Committee (EDIITC) which provides guidance on EDII best practices related to training, recruitment, and inclusivity. Current initiatives include regular EDII training (in person and remotely) through workshops, webinars, and a podcast series: ‘The EDII Catalyst.’ Finally, we offer specific fellowships to those from equity deserving groups to attempt to dismantle systematic barriers and equalize opportunities.

If you are interested in learning more, we welcome any questions and meaningful conversations, so please contact us at C2MCI@queensu.ca
